Eligibility Criteria for Heat Pump Rebates in Maine 

Tier 1 Heat Pumps 

  • AHRI-rated HSPF 12.0 or greater for systems with the single indoor unit 
  • AHRI-rated HSPF 10.0 or greater for systems with multiple indoor units or indoor ducted unit

Tier 2 Heat Pumps 

  • AHRI-rated HSPF 12.5 or greater 
  • Homes without any natural gas utility account

The heat pump needs to be installed in a one to a four-unit residential building in Maine. Please check out commercial programs for large buildings, including five or more connected condominiums. 

The heat pumps should be used throughout the heating season. 

The lifetime limit is two heat pump indoor unit rebates per dwelling – a residential unit with a dedicated kitchen, sleeping, and bath space.

Installation 

  • Consider hiring a registered vendor for the installation of residential heat pumps.
  • The professional installer should follow the building’s heat pump installation requirement checklist. 

Timeframe 

When the residential heat pump installation is done, you will receive a rebate claim form over email within 90 days.
